IMPORTANT: This map is to be used as a guideline only. Trails and features are always changing, so familiarize yourself with the trail before you ride.
There are two parking areas at Imagination Glen, the EAST LOT (“soccer fields”) and the WEST LOT (“gravel lot”). On the map below, they are labeled with a yellow star.
EAST LOT (Soccer Fields):
The trail head starts at the section on the map called “Broken Arrow” (near kiosk and shed) and will lead immediately into “Roller Coaster”. Roller Coaster is one of the most difficult sections of the trail. If you do not wish to begin here, you can instead ride through the parking lot south to the Ironhorse paved bike path. Head west on the trail. You will have two options: 1) Turn into the first entrance – the red sign – The beginning of the Dark Side/East side – which is marked by the red lines on the map (higher difficulty rating – 7 miles long) or 2) keep heading down the trail, past the creek, until you see the Blue sign for the Front Side (lower difficulty rating – 3 miles long).
If you elect to enter at the trailhead, you will finish Broken Arrow and go through Roller Coaster and end up at the Ironhorse paved bike trail. From there you need to ride west (turn right) until you get to the Red sign (Dark side) or the Blue sign (Front Side) farther down. You can then either do the one or the other trails, or both. Both combined is just over 10 miles long.
WEST LOT (Gravel Lot):
When using the Gravel lot, there is pretty much only one way to go. You start at the trailhead and ride through the section called Peninsula. That will spill out onto the Ironhorse pave trail. Ride east (turn left) until you get to either the Blue sign (Front Side – Blue line on the map) or past the creek to the Red sign (Dark side – Red line on the map). If you wish to ride both trails back to back, then ride down to the Red sign entrance, ride through the dark side, then when Roller Coaster leads you back to the Ironhorse paved trail, turn right and re-enter the trail at the Blue sign. This will have you finish the Front Side and lead you back to the parking lot. As I mentioned above, the Front Side is shorter and easier – about 3 miles. The Dark Side longer and more difficult – about 7 miles. If you ride the entire trail, it is just over 10 miles long.
OTHER SUGGESTIONS:
Just for reference if you’re new to Mountain Biking – plan on riding a pace of 6-10 miles per hour (6 for someone who’s not in great shape – 10 if you are). With that said, plan on setting aside AT LEAST an hour if you plan on riding the entire trail. There are “SHORTCUT” signs throughout the trail to help if you get tired or just don’t want to do a section. Also, remember to bring water and stay hydrated.
